Graduates of the B.Sc. Microbiology programme will be able to:
Identify, classify, and study bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa relevant to human, plant, and animal health.
Conduct diagnostic tests, industrial fermentation, and environmental monitoring using modern laboratory equipment.
Apply molecular techniques, bioinformatics, and quality-control practices in biotechnology and public-health labs.
Design and carry out research projects that address emerging infectious diseases, agricultural productivity, and environmental challenges.
Demonstrate ethical conduct, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills in scientific and professional practice.
Minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics (obtained in not more than two sittings – WAEC/NECO/NABTEB).
Minimum JAMB UTME score of 140 or higher.
Successful performance in the University’s Post-UTME screening and interview.
In addition to the O’Level requirements, candidates must have:
Two (2) A-Level passes in relevant subjects such as Biology and Chemistry, or
A recognized ND/NCE/HND in a related life-science discipline with acceptable grades.
